Connecticut Law and Policy

We offer this information about homeschooling for superintendents, legislators, and families.

In Connecticut there are two things homeschoolers need to understand; the law, and the Guidelines. The two sometimes cause confusion for people, and sometimes the Guidelines are mistaken for being law. But they are not law. The Guidelines are part of the Suggested Procedure on Home Instruction in Connecticut.

Please be sure to read and understand the law and Guidelines. If you need further assistance, contact any support group leader; they can direct you accordingly. There are also several attorneys who support homeschooling, some of whom provide their own websites with free information.

You may also be interested in learning more about the Legislative Process here in Connecticut. And for those who will be withdrawing a child from the school system in order to homeschool, we offer a sample Letter of Withdrawal.
